While we are waiting for the vaccine, the number of new cases of COVID-19 continues to grow at an alarming rate. Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has not yet completed the 2020-21 spring semester in-person learning plan. Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has announced that school facilities will not be rented out to community groups before the beginning of the spring of 2021. Therefore, the 2020-21 Fall Session of the Li-Ming Chinese Academy will adopt virtual distance learning. For the past several months, distance learning has presented many difficult challenges for our school. To meet these challenges, the Li-Ming Academic Affairs team has worked hard to overhaul our teaching approach. Our teachers have sacrificed their own time to participate in a six-week-long training, revised the teaching curriculum and materials and became familiar with various online teaching platforms. In addition, Li-Ming has provided upgrades of related software and hardware resources. Based on the consideration of long term continuous operation, the tuition and fees for the next school year will remain unchanged. If you have any questions, please submit your feedback to email@example.com.

During 2019-2020 school year, all Li-Ming families were affected by unforeseen Julius West Middle School rental schedule changes. Starting in 2020-2021, due to MCPS lease restrictions (see Li-Ming website for details), Li-Ming will no longer be able to rent JWMS. In order to provide students with a more stable learning environment, we have decided to relocate the school. We know that school relocation will have a great impact on students, teachers, parents and all volunteers. The school will do its utmost to reduce the impact of the relocation of the school on everyone. Li-Ming thanks everyone for their long-term support and trust. I also want to thank all the volunteers who made selfless efforts to make this big family stronger and warmer. Li-Ming is so fortunate to have you guys! Hope everyone can weather the epidemic safely!

Dear Liming Chinese Academy (LMCA) Community,
We have recently learned that the first 3 cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) that were identified in the state of Maryland are from Montgomery County. The patients are identified as a married couple in their 70s and an individual in their 50s. They contracted the virus while traveling overseas. State officials have shared that they do not believe these individuals have had contact with MCPS students. As you know, MCPS has been preparing for this situation through their interagency coordination with the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services and Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security. At this time, we are following guidance from the Department of Health and Human Services and MCPS schools will remain open. As we move forward, we are preparing for the possibility of school closures in the future should this become necessary. We encourage all LMCA families to remain vigilant through this situation and consult your health provider if you are experiencing symptoms that you may believe are related to the coronavirus.
We will continue to provide updates as this situation develops. Visit the coronavirus webpage to stay up-to-date on the latest information.
